The Transit hides its spare under the body, which works until larger tires or a hitch tray claim the space. Door-mounted carriers and ladder-carrier combinations move the spare to the rear doors, and the soft accessories that strap to a mounted spare finish the setup.
A spare on the door loads hinges sized for the door alone, so the carrier's published hinge figures and backing requirements are the first read. Fitment is by body and year, per the manufacturer documentation.
