Shelter that extends the van rather than replacing it: vehicle-side shelter systems, annex and storm walls, and the brackets that put a commercial awning on a factory or aftermarket rack. Doubling your covered floor area at camp changes how a small van lives more than any interior purchase at the same price.
Wind is the design constraint. Check the published mounting requirements against the rack or rail you actually have, stake and guy the shelter the way its maker specifies, and treat any awning as furled at highway speed and in gusts. Coverage areas and mounting hardware are listed in the manufacturer documentation.
