A camp kitchen setup in a van is judged by one thing: how long it takes to go from parked to cooking, and from finished to driving. Everything else is preference. The builds that get used every night are the ones where the whole kitchen deploys in under two minutes and stows without repacking. This collection carries the boxes, slides, and surfaces built around that constraint.
An interior galley works in any weather and keeps cooking heat and moisture inside the vehicle, which is a real ventilation load in cold climates and a mildew source in humid ones. An exterior kitchen on a slide or a tailgate surface keeps grease and smell out of the living space and works well in fair weather, but it is unusable in wind and rain without an awning. Most builds that get used year-round have a minimal interior setup for coffee and bad weather plus a fuller exterior arrangement for everything else. Deciding which one you are optimizing for is the first move.
The most useful thing a camp kitchen can do is move as a single unit. A box that lifts out complete, with the stove, the pot, the utensils, and the fuel already inside, removes the daily search that kills the habit of cooking. Systems assembled from separate components stored in separate places look more organized and get used less. When you evaluate a kitchen box, the question is whether it closes with everything in it and whether you can carry it one-handed to a picnic table.
Fresh water storage, a way to move it, and somewhere for the grey to go are a system, not three accessories. Jerry cans with a hand pump are simple, inexpensive, and honest about their limits. Plumbed tanks with a foot pump or a pressure pump are more convenient and introduce winterizing, sanitizing, and leak-checking as permanent chores. Grey water is the part that gets skipped: a bucket under the drain works until you forget it is there, and most public places have no legal grey disposal. Whatever you choose, water weight is significant at roughly eight and a third pounds per gallon, and it belongs low and near the axle.
Counter space is always insufficient, so a slide-out or fold-down surface that doubles the working area is worth more than a larger stove. On fuel, canister stoves are simplest and struggle in cold, liquid fuel handles cold and adds maintenance, and built-in propane is the most convenient and the most involved to install safely, because propane in an enclosed vehicle is a ventilation and detection question rather than a preference. Any fuel burned inside a van needs a carbon monoxide detector, and that is not a recommendation we soften. For cleanup, a system that lets you wash without unpacking half the kitchen is the difference between doing dishes at night and doing them the next afternoon.
Slide-mounted kitchens need a published slide length and load rating, and the slide has to clear the rear or side door swing on your specific platform. Sprinter 144 builds usually run a compact interior galley because the length is not there for both a kitchen and a garage. Sprinter 170, Transit high roof, and Promaster 159 builds have room for a dedicated galley run. Promaster 136 and shorter Transit builds are the ones where exterior kitchens make the most sense, since interior length is at a premium. Each product lists the manufacturer's published dimensions and any platform-specific mounting requirements.
We do not carry refrigerators or power stations. Both are categories where fitment, electrical integration, and warranty support matter more than curation can add, and both are already served well elsewhere. We also excluded kitchen boxes without published interior dimensions, because a box that will not close on your stove is a return waiting to happen. This is a deliberately narrow collection, and it will stay narrow until suppliers with published specs fill it out.
